100 WORDS- DESIGN INSPIRATION

I chose my figure & ground model to develop as i thought it would look effective to move through. The inspiration for my final designs came from the idea of building blocks and how they stack neatly on to each other, however instead of using bright colours like lego i decided to take inspiration from an industrial style because i like the neutral colours and it makes the model look more modern. I want the blocks to start out all closed up and then unfold and join together so that they have a stacking block effect then it will be open to freely move around and explore the inside like a tunnel.

TEXTURE RESEARCH

This texture looks a lot like the top of a lego block, could look effective but may be difficult to match other textures with.

These bright colours are similar to lego but might not work well with the shape of my model, not sure how i would apply them to look effective, they may be too bright.

I like this metal texture but it is too shiny for my model and it would look too busy.

The concrete slabs have a more earthy feel to them and go well with the theme of blocks but would give my model a more industrial look.

RESEARCH

Concrete Slabs
I like the neutral tones and clear cut lines in these images.

Building Blocks
I like the way they fit together. would be good to use this as inspiration for my model.
